Day 47
Jack is officially off CPAP! At least for the time being. He is doing all the work on his own now, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t need the assistance of CPAP sometime in the future. We are just happy, and we’re sure Jack is too, that no more bothersome nasal prongs are needed. He still has the small ones for the nasal cannula, but they are no sweat for him. He does try to pull them out occasionally.
Mommy got to hold Jack again this evening and he did very well. He was looking all around switching glances back and forth between Mommy and Daddy. He even snuck in a few great big smiles.
He’s up to 3lbs 11.5oz already. Soon he’ll be up to 4 pounds! It wasn’t too long ago that he barely gained an ounce every three days. Now he gains an ounce a day and sometimes more.
He is doing really well regulating his body temperature, so soon he’ll be in a crib instead of an incubator. That will be great because it will be so much easier to get him out of bed and hold him.
