We have another idol fan in the house!! We watched the season premier of American Idol on Tuesday night and Jack came flying into the living room chanting "I-do, I-do, I-DOOOOOO" he was so excited. It's neat to think he remembers it from last year (and every other year of his young life, lol). We didn't watch last nights episode yet -- it's waiting on our DVR hopefully we'll get to it tonight.

American Idol -- Top 12...Season 7
I applaud all of these kids (and yes, I can say that seeing as I am not of eligible contestant age, lol). I think this year we have outstanding performers! Okay and the Lennon/McCartney songs were absolutely perfect for THIS top 12!
Here is where I stand on this year's top 12...
Amanda Overmyer
The "rocker" chick...I really haven't connected with Amanda. I think she lacks something (the girl won't smile for anything!) and half the time I think she's out of tune...but the judges love her and America must too because I've thought she was going home week after week!
Brook White
She's really, really grown on me. I like what she's done with her song choices and think she could have a career beyond idol. I am not ready for her to go home yet!
Carly Smithson
I think Carly can really sing...last night's performance was my favorite of hers. I don't love her, but do admit she's really talented! I don't think it's her time to go yet!
Chikezie
I absolutely LOVED Chikezie last night. He's really taking what Randy, Paula and Simon say and MAKING it WORK! Surprisingly, I am a sucker for bluegrass (ala "O Brother Where Art Thou" or "Cold Mountain") and really got excited when he started with the small band on the stage...I hope he stays and continues to totally break the mold!
David Archuleta
Poor David. He was really nervous last night and I was surprised! We can't be perfect all the time...and last night it was David's turn to be "unperfect." To me he has the voice of an angel and I can see him performing contemporary music like Josh Groban. I don't want to see David go yet either!
David Cook
Another "rocker" -- I am not the biggest fan of David Cook's, but would like to see him stick around because I do think he's a better performer than some of the others!
David Hernandez
Okay, DID NOT LIKE IT! I agree with Simon...over performed, a little cheesy, and not at all what I would expect at this stage in the competition! I am afraid, although he can sing, his performance on stage will not stand up to some of the others. He's my pick to go home this week...Sorry David!
Jason Castro
I love this guy! He seems soooo sweet and down to earth. I admit though, this is more my style of music so I may be a bit biased. I don't think he has the most amazing voice -- but I want to see more from him. His version of Hallelujah last week gave me chills! That is one of my all time favorite songs...and I was so glad when the judges "got" the performance.
Kristy Lee Cook
No....no, no, no. It didn't work last night. I think she's trying too hard to become a country singer...either you are or you aren't and I really am not buying the country gal performance. She's ready to go home in my (very humble) opinion!
Michael Johns
He's been stellar since day one! Again, this is really up my ally -- and I think he could have a career today even without idol! I hope he stays!!
Ramiele Malubay
She's a beautiful girl with a great voice, but she's another one I am having a hard time connecting with. I don't think she should go home, but if I need to get up at all during idol, it's usually during her songs!
Syesha Mercado
She's a cute, spunky thing but I am not sure she's got what it takes when you compare her to other contestants this year. I think she'd be great on stage (maybe in a musical -- where she could act and sing) but I don't see her winning this thing.

Idol, the Men...

I wasn't totally shocked at last week's results show -- now it's getting interesting! This week 2 from EACH group will be cut. I don't know who to say is going home!
1. Paul sang "Missing You" -- I know others like this guy but there's something about him that doesn't appeal to me. I just can't picture him as an American Idol.
2. Jared sang "Let's Get it on" -- ugh, another song that makes me cringe. I thought it was safe and solid...however the whole sexy hand down the face thing is lost on me...
3. AJ sang "New Dawn" -- I loved it!! I want EVERY contestant to sing songs like this!!
4. Sanjaya sang "Steppin' Out" -- Ugh. This poor kid. He may end up going home. If he doesn't he HAS to get smarter about his song choices...for real dawg. lol
5. Chris's song was sweet -- I loved his dedication to his wife. He has potential!!
6. Nick sang "Fever" -- I liked his voice on this song. I can see he needs a little work on his stage presence but I liked it overall.
7. Blake sang "Virtual Reality" I liked it. He's probably my favorite guy. He has a mix of things going for him. I hope he stays!
8. Brandon sang "Time After Time" -- it was sweet...but this guy blew me away during auditions. I still haven't seen him do that on the big stage!
9. Chris sang "Geek in the Pink" -- I have never heard this song before but I liked it. Wasn't my all time favorite but I hope he sticks around too.
10. Sundance sang "Mustang Sally" he can sing, that's for sure. I don't care for the song though...I am hopeful that he'll surprise us like he did in the auditions.

American Idol, The Ladies...

Alaina Alexander: "Brass in Pocket" -- I like her and would like to see her sing something different.
Amy Krebs: "I Can't Make You Love Me" -- Just not as good as the song require's IMHO!
Antonella Barba: "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" -- Poor girl. She really didn't do very well. I believe she'll be voted off this week.
Gina Glocksen: "All By Myself" -- Just okay for me.
Haley Scarnato: "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" -- I don't remember this performance! Not just saying that...looking at her picture I can't remember this one.
Jordin Sparks: "Gimme One Reason" -- I think she's cute and liked the performance.
Lakisha Jones: "And I Am Telling You, I'm Not Going" -- I do agree she can SING -- I'd like to see a softer side though...
Leslie Hunt: "(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman" -- I thought it was okay -- she did seem a little stiff up there
Melinda Doolittle: "Since You Been Gone" -- I love her...she's so cute!
Nicole Tranquillo: "Stay" -- Oh no, I am drawing a blank here too!! I should really blog the night before!
Sabrina Sloan: "Never Loved a Man The Way That I Love You" Not my style but good voice, I think!!
Stephanie Edwards: "How Come You Don't Call Me" -- Loved it!!! Probably my favorite female performance of the night!

American Idol Season 6!

Idol's Back!!!
Here's my thoughts based on last nights performances ONLY! What do you guys think??
A.J. Tabaldo: "Never Too Much" -- It was okay -- I can't really remember this one.
Blake Lewis: "Somewhere Only We Know" -- My favorite by far. I loved the song choice -- and his stage presence was really, really good.
Brandon Rogers: "Rock With You" -- It was good, but as good as I expected!
Chris Richardson: "I Don't Want to Be" -- I like this guy, although he sounded too nasally for my taste last night.
Chris Sligh: "Typical" -- This was a strange one for me. I didn't care for his stage presence or the song, although he sang it okay.
Jared Cotter: "Back at One" -- I despise this song so it's hard for me to be unbiased. He sang it well I thought.
Nicholas Pedro: "Now and Forever" -- Although a little shy, I think he sang it okay.
Paul Kim: "Careless Whisper" -- Again, just okay for me.
Phil Stacey: "I Could Not Ask For More" -- I wouldn't be surprised if he got voted off. Poor guy.
Rudy Cardenas: "Free Ride" -- I forgot to type here yesterday -- oops. I thought it was waaay corny. I'd like to hear him sing something different.
Sanjaya Malakar: "Knocks Me Off My Feet" -- I did not like this one at all! I think he acts strange too -- too timid on purpose or something like that.
Sundance Head: "Nights in White Satin" -- Eek, very bad song choice. Not what I had expected.
