Day 35
Jack has reached 3 lbs! And, along with his weight gain, there must have been a strength gain as well. Today, without being initially noticed, Jack lifted up his head and turned it completely in the other direction. We’ve seen Jack raise his head off his bed a few times in the past, but nothing to this magnitude. Jack’s nurse was surprised. He shouldn’t be moving his head because he is intubated and the nurses have to totally disconnect him to move him around. But, they looked at his oxygen saturation and there were no problems with that. It will probably be soon when Jack is off the ventilator anyway, so this shouldn’t be a problem in the future. We’re just proud of his accomplishment. Soon he’ll be doing jumping jacks.
