The Nursery...

Over 4 years ago I fell in love with the "John Lennon Collection" nursery decor. I had it picked out from the time I knew I was expecting. It was so fun -- I knew it would work for a boy or a girl and looking at the set online brought me sheer joy!

About 2 weeks before Jack's NICU discharge we had the nursery completed. It was beautiful!

Jack's room at our old house May 2003.

As Jack grew older I started packing away the baby-ish things like the mobile, and baby bedding. Until recently I had no idea if we were ever going to try for more children. Over the years I had given away most of Jack's baby gear (high chairs, strollers, car seats, etc.) but always held on to the nursery box.

As soon as I found out we were expecting again I was so overjoyed that I could use the same nursery decor as I did with Jack. It survived the move and it's in pristine condition. The baby will also inherit Jack's crib that currently just taking up space in his room. Jack will keep the dresser because the baby's room has a built in chest of drawers and shelves...

I picked out paint samples last week and hope to get some painting completed this weekend (fingers crossed!!)

It's something simple but it makes me smile. Sometimes it's the little things that mean so much.

  1. I love that set too. It's going to be a beautiful nursery! I know what you mean about the little things.

I am redoing a bed for Ellie to get her futon up off the floor. She picked purple. I found out that Benjamine Moore sells low V.O.C. paints in most colors. It loses its fumes in a couple of hours versus weeks. You still need to ventilate when you use it but it's way better than normal paint.

Good luck picking out colores. We have multiple rooms to do this for and I am finding it really hard to commit!

  2. Very cute bedding set and decor. It's nice to realize sometimes that it is the simple things in life that can really make us smile or bring us joy.
    Have fun painting!
