When we were on vacation Jack had a small seizure after breakfast one morning. When we got home I called his neuro and he increased his bed time dose of tegretol and said if that didn't work we'd switch to another med.
Well, this morning right after breakfast (10:00 am) he had another small seizure. He started with mouth movements like he was tasting something, grunted like his tummy hurt, asked for a drink and then some food (which I did not give him). I think he was feeling different sensations in his belly. It lasted only seconds and now he's really sleepy laying on the couch.
Another call in to his neuro I guess...
What meds are your kiddos on for seizures? I don't know what he would consider changing to...I wonder why the Tegretol isn't working like it used to? He's been taking it since he was 15 months old with fabulous control until January of this year.
Anyway, just asking for some hugs -- I HATE this.
Unfortunately, no advise from Lancaster, but lots of GREAT BIG HUGS!!! Hope they help.

ReplyDeleteI hate seizures. HATE them. It is mind numbing to play all the guess work.
ReplyDeleteI've read, that over time a body can build up to an intolerance to seizure meds, and that is why they need to be changed periodically. I have NO clue if that is true or not.
We use Depakote. But I do not like it- It means regular blood checks and that drives me insane. I mean, these kiddos' have ENOUGH.
We have a neuro appointment, soon so I am planning to CHANGE it.
I did go to a great seminar the other night at our children's hospital. It was specifically on medication. If you want the list, and side effects and what they do, some of them are seizure meds, I'd be happy to email that to you.
Thanks for the neat words, you left at my place. I appreciate your support and care.
Give those chili's a hug. They are so beautiful!
I'm so sorry to hear about this latest seizure. I don't have any advice, but I do send lots and lots of hugs!

Thanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteLisa -- please do send that list! We see his neuro again on October 8th and I'd like to be prepared with info on new meds. Thanks!!
Hugs from NY. My son use Trileptal twice a day. His seizures are very small now, only few seconds.
