Jack's been admitted to the hospital to treat the kidney infection. I only have a moment -- I am home to shower and grab a few things. Jack's doing well -- he's actually in great spirits and is flirting with all of the nurses, even at 2 am!
He will be in for at least 3 days (pray this is all) for antibiotic treatment. We chose our local hospital admitted under our general pediatrician instead of the medical center. I am very glad. The peds area is empty and the staff has been overly accommodating. It's also within walking distance to my mom's house -- which is a bonus because of the impending severe weather.
We will follow up with a nephrologist (sp??) to be sure there are no kidney abnormalities. They will do testing and studies once we are discharges.
Keep our little man in your thoughts.
I'm so sorry to hear that he is having more health issues. I hope his recovery is speedy that things go smoothly and you will have him back home soon. You are in my thoughts!
ReplyDelete(found you from Trish's blog) Hope the abx do the trick. My youngest has kidney reflux which was dx'd after a kidney infection at 5wks. They did a VCUG (not a fun test, but definitive) a week after the course of antibiotics and a kidney ultrasound. Hope it was just a fluke infection. Glad the hospital situation is a good one at least!
ReplyDeleteHey Buddy, Keep that great sense of humor of yours while you are in the hospital, you'll keep the nurses in stitches!! Sorry you have to be there, but if you have to be there, make the best of it, ask for all of the goodies you can think of(I'm sure with that handsome grin of yours, you'll be sure to get whatever you want)!
ReplyDeleteTake care, be good, listen to the nurses and you'll be home in no time. I don't know that we'll get up to see you in the hospital with all this snow. We have about 5 inches right now. YUK!! DOUBLE YUK!!(AND--it's still coming down like crazy and starting to blow as well)!
Love Grammie
So sorry to hear about the kidney infection. Poor Jack has been through a lot lately!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I had the same kidney infection, Pseudomonas, that I contracted when I was in the hospital on magnesium sulfate before the girls were born. It took a LOT of antibiotics to get rid of it. I did some research after the fact, and found out that it is almost always caught IN THE HOSPITAL. Which means it is very likely that Jack got it at one of his previous appts.
Anyway, glad to hear that Jack is in good spirits, and hope you get to come home in 3 days!
I was catching up on your blog today, and based on your Meme it sounds like we have a lot in common, especially in music taste! John and I went to The White Stripes second show ever in Detroit. There were about 15 people there! We followed them a while before they got famous. After that it was always too crowded. Still love the music though:) Also a HUGE Tori Amos fan.
Get better SOON Jack!
Poor Jack! Am sending many loving healing prayers your way. Hang in there!
