CRINGE!
Let me start by saying I am not an overly sensative person. I do believe in using positive language regarding differences and abilities -- not so much politically correct, just not painting disabilites in a negative way. I cannot beieve the president of the United States made a crack about the Special Olympics last night :(

I think it is interesting that we are not seeing more in the news about this. What if Bush had said this...he would have been all over the news.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jacolyn. That was extremely insensitive. Clearly, our president has a thing or two to learn about off-the-cuff remarks like this. I mean, he shouldn't sound robotic, but he does need to be more sensitive and aware. In his California speech, he made some passing references about executives no longer being able to jet off to Las Vegas. Remarks like that hurt Las Vegas; Nevada is the state that's been the most affected by the recession.
