BOTOX WAS POSTPONED until Dec 31st....it's a long story. Insurance would NOT pay for botox without sedation....but guess what....they'll pay for it WITH sedation??!? Which is at least if not more than 3 times the cost. I could have paid a few thousand out of pocket but it just wasn't in the budget. They were supposed to have had the preauthorization completed beforehand but it came down to the 11th hour and we spent all day at the hospital waiting in a small room. I think I may go insane if I have to do that again!
After waiting at the rehab clinic we spent the rest of the day waiting at the eye clinic. The eye exam went well -- he wants us to not use Jack's glasses for 2 months to strengthen his eye muscles by making them work harder.
So we're scheduled for botox with sedation on Dec. 31st...
I don't get insurance companies. What is their reasoning on that one? I'm sorry you had to wait in a room all day just to have it postponed. Did you have Morgan with you too?
ReplyDeleteHow interesting that the eye doc wants him to go without glasses. Usually we hear them stressing to "wear, wear, wear" the glasses. It must mean good things... maybe Jack won't need the glasses some day???

ReplyDeleteAs for the glasses -- it's an eye muscle thing. he can see better with the glasses, and his eye muscles don't have to work as hard. His right eye is turning out slightly and to correct it the doctor said by not wearing glasses his muscles with have to work harder. So I believe we'll go back to glasses once the muscle (hopefully) corrects itself without surgery. Jack actually requests his glasses now, which is sad because there's no way to explain it so he can understand...heck, I don't truly understand! lol

ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about the frustrating wait and delay for Botox. I just don't understand why insurance companies have to be so difficult (to say the least).
I've heard about not wearing glasses to help strengthen eye muscles. Hope the muscle corrects itself so that surgery is not required.
