School Lunch Ideas?

Jack eats a lot of food -- however, this year he's been extremely rigid about the types of food he'll eat. I plan on packing a lunch for him daily. Here are the types of things he'll currently eat that are "packable" he'll eat spaghetti and veggie bacon and a other hot foods, but there's no way for them to heat things or cook things for Kindergarten.

Sliced bananas
Dried apples
Apple Sauce
Crackers (fish, teddy grahams)
Pudding
Yogurt
Peanut butter sandwiches (I checked and PB is allowed in the classroom).
Chocolate Pediasure

Taking these foods into consideration, what other variations are there? What do your kids eat at school?

Couldn't you put hot foods in a thermos? That would help.

Wow, I can't believe he will be gone all day. It's been fun watching him grow up via the blog.

  3. there was a really cute article in parents magazine this month about school lunches, using these cute little containers called laptop lunches...it's kind of like bento, anyway, if he's picky then maybe you could give him what he likes...but just mix and match daily so its always a little different, here's the link to the article if you wanna check it out... http://www.parents.com/recipes/cooking/kid-friendly-food/healthy-school-lunches-snacks/?page=2

  5. How about cold cooked potatoes or pasta, maybe in a salad (mayo, sweetcorn, small pieces of pickles if he likes)?

If Jack's food needs/preferences are related to his impairment then it would be reasonable for the school to provide a microwave - can't hurt to ask...

random lurker, over and out! :)
