And I thought I'd have to worry about MTV...nope, a cd of 100 silly songs had me raising an eyebrow and quickly changing to the next song...
What on earth??? lol!

Found a peanut, found a peanut,
Found a peanut just now,
Just now I found a peanut,
Found a peanut just now.
Cracked it open, cracked it open,
Cracked it open just now,
Just now I cracked it open,
Cracked it open just now.
It was rotten, it was rotten,
It was rotten just now,
Just now it was rotten,
It was rotten just now.
Ate it anyway, ate it anyway,
Ate it anyway just now,
Just now I ate it anyway,
Ate it anyway just now.
Got a stomach ache, got a stomach ache,
Got a stomach ache just now,
Just now I got a stomach ache,
Got a stomach ache just now.
Called the doctor, called the doctor,
Called the doctor just now,
Just now I called the doctor,
Called the doctor just now.
Penicillin, Penicillin,
Penicillin just now,
Just now I took Penicillin,
Penicillin just now.
Operation, operation,
Operation just now,
Just now an operation,
An operation just now.
Died anyway, died anyway,
Died anyway just now,
Just now I died anyway,
Died anyway just now.
Went to heaven, went to heaven,
Went to heaven just now,
Just now I went to heaven,
Went to heaven just now.
Wouldn't take me, wouldn't take me,
Wouldn't take me just now,
Just now Heaven wouldn't take me,
Wouldn't take me just now.
Went the other way, went the other way,
Went the other way just now,
Just now I went the other way,
Went the other way just now.
Didn't want me, didn't want me,
Didn't want me just now,
Just now they didn't want me,
Didn't want me just now.
Was a dream, was a dream,
Was a dream just now,
Just now it was a dream,
Was a dream, just now.
Then I woke up, then I woke up,
Then I woke up just now,
Just now I woke up,
I woke up just now.
Found a peanut, found a peanut,
Found a peanut just now,
Just now I found a peanut,
Found a peanut just now.

Yikes, that is freaky! Some kid songs are down right evil. Makes me think twice before singing familiar songs to my kids now.
ReplyDeleteSort of like some cartoons. Are they really made for kids, or for another adult agenda!

I just got a kids CD that has this song on it too! At first glance the CD seemed great but that song caught my ears. My version stops at "died anyway" then goes to "was a dream" so it's not nearly so bad. I miss some of the songs that I grew up with but not this one.
ReplyDeleteI have a kindergarten meeting to go to on Thursday. I'm kinda freaking about this whole process. Ben went from a baby to a five year old really fast.
Hi, Angela, I wanted to write you a note because I saw your entry down below about Jack's most recent diagnosis. First, let me say that I believe that Autism is a form of brain injury. A specific type, but still. . . I think it's an injury. The symptoms are just too similar to discount. Maybe not all kids with brain injury act autistic, but I still thinks it's a possibility when a child does have brain damage.
ReplyDeleteSecond, I wanted to talk to you about the diagnosis of mild retardation. I talk special education for five years. I had many students with this label. Some were ultimately proven to be incorrect. Other students with this label successfully completed an intro to high school algebra in the eighth grade. They are capable of so much and I am a bit disappointed that this Doc predicted specific future issues--I can almost assure you that she's never been in a classroom.
Finally, I'd like to say that I was recently blessed with an invitation to the wedding of one of these mildly retarded students. He has a job as a welder, a wife, and a home. Life could be so much worse than that and this kid had zero support, his mother abandoned him as a child, and his step-mother abused him. Jack has so much more support than that--he is wrapped in love and support. There is no telling what he's capable of.
Sorry, a bit of a soap box for me.
Bird (((hugs))) -- that's exactly the soap box I'd like MORE people to stand on...ya know?
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your comments. And I truly believe if Jack had had a typical birth without a brain injury he would not have the PDD-NOS symptoms he has. I recently spoke to a dr. in our peds office about the exact same thing...
Of course labels help with services, etc., but that's all they are and it really does not define who our sweet boy is!
Thanks for reading and sharing the awesome story about your former student!!!
Ironic as it may be I hunted for the lyrics to that song for years. It was a song that my mother was taught when she was a child (during the depression). She couldn't remember all the lines.
